Since the beginning of the renovation program, the city government has handed over 307 residential complexes for occupancy. According to Deputy Mayor of Moscow for urban planning policy and construction Vladimir Yefimov, these complexes comprise around 76 thousand apartments.

«The renovation program has reached a stage where the work is well-organized and structured, and the results are improving annually. In Moscow, 307 residential complexes have been handed over for occupancy, with around 76 thousand apartments. The construction of new buildings in selected areas within renovation quarters continues,» emphasized the Deputy Mayor of Moscow.

Yefimov added that a total of 623 sites have been selected for building houses within the renovation program. Approximately 10.2 million square meters of housing will be constructed on these sites. Since August 2017, over 145 thousand residents have already received new apartments in modern residential complexes located in different administrative districts of the capital city. Furthermore, more than 18 thousand Moscow residents are in the process of relocation. Minister of the Moscow government and head of the Department of Urban Planning Policy Vladislav Ovchinsky stated that over 58 thousand families have moved and settled in new homes since the start of the renovation program.

«At present, the southeast of the capital leads in terms of relocations. In addition, residents are actively moving into new apartments in the Western, Eastern, and Northern administrative districts,» listed the head of the Department of Urban Planning Policy.

The apartments that city residents receive in exchange for old housing are fully ready for occupancy, with improved finishes that fully comply with the renovation program standards approved by the city government. The number of rooms in the new buildings is the same as in the old apartments, and the living space is often larger.

Head of the Moscow City Construction Department Rafik Zagrutdinov noted that the lower floors of high-rise buildings are designated for non-residential use. They house lobbies, elevator halls, duty rooms, storage rooms for cleaning equipment, technical rooms, and mailboxes. Additionally, on the ground floors, there are shops, cafes, beauty salons, sports clubs, circles, and sections for children.

The renovation program is the most extensive urban development project in the capital city. It was approved by the Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin in August 2017. Currently, it includes 5176 houses where approximately one million Muscovites reside. All of them will receive apartments in modern new buildings in exchange for outdated housing. Just last year, 59 new buildings were handed over for occupancy, and more than 47 thousand people were relocated. Earlier, Sergey Sobyanin instructed to double the pace of the renovation program implementation. Since the beginning of this year, 30 buildings have been handed over for occupancy under the renovation program. Almost 15 thousand Moscow residents from 84 old five-story buildings will celebrate a housewarming in them. Information about the program is available on the official portal of the Moscow government and mayor.

At the end of June, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for urban planning policy and construction Vladimir Yefimov announced that three education facilities will be built in Gol’yanovo as part of the renovation program. All new schools in Moscow are designed according to a new standard: spacious rooms, media libraries, large spaces for project work and communication, universal and specialized classrooms equipped with modern equipment, recreation areas, and well-maintained playgrounds surrounding the buildings.

According to the conditions of the renovation program, Moscow residents are provided housing in areas familiar to them, located near their previous place of residence. Residents receive apartments with completed finishes. At the time of relocation, the apartments are equipped with plumbing and other necessary equipment for comfortable living. The government also takes care of the «external» improvement: people move into areas with a developed urban environment. For example, in new buildings, grocery stores operate, enterprises specializing in various service areas for residents, public transport is running, communal facilities are open, children’s playgrounds, recreational areas, and other spaces for leisure and recreation are available. Parking spaces are also provided near the buildings.

Experts note that Moscow leads other regions of our country in terms of construction pace and volume. Over the past five years, within the regional project «Housing» of the national project «Housing and Urban Environment,» the volume of construction and commissioning of residential buildings in the capital has doubled — from three million to five-seven million square meters per year.
